inspiration: watters birdcage veil

23 Sep

i’ve always got my eyes peeled for inspiration for new pieces for the shop, and this veil from a watters ad jumped out at me from the pages instyle weddings fall 2009. isn’t the volume and drape interesting and fresh? i love seeing french and russian netting used in ways beyond your classic birdcage veil.

i rarely get worked up about real wedding posts, but the colors in this one on the always aspirational brooklyn bride just made my heart go “YES!”

we’ve been tossing around the idea of using lemon yellows, deep blues and white, with touches of green and orange, but sometimes color combinations can be hard to visualize (and using one of those online color swatch tools, the combo screamed “O HAY, 70’s!”). it’s great to see it executed so beautifully and effortlessly here, and it gives me hope for executing it, myself.

happy weekend! xox

big sale! 20% off of everything in the store

10 Sep

hello! i’ve missed you all, but i come with great news: every piece in the one little dove etsy shop is on sale until 9/20/2009! move quickly to get 20% off of each item in the store, because there’s a catch: the sale price only applies to the first of each item sold. for instance, only one buttercup veil will be sold at the sale price of 20% off–after that, it will revert to regular price.

get them while they’re cheap! head over to the etsy shop here to see all 17 veils and fascinators:

if there’s enough interest in this sale, i’ll consider doing another one in the future. don’t be shy with your feedback.
